What’s New: The Emerging Multimodal Network (EMN)
With the completion of new bridges over Salem Parkway, and the opening of the Long Branch Trail, the City is steadily building out an Emerging Multimodal Network – a series of transportation investments that give residents more choices in how they travel, whether they prefer to walk, bike, ride the bus, or drive.
Planning for Community Development in the North-South Corridor
The City of Winston-Salem is working to create a long-term strategic plan to guide the development of the North-South Corridor around a future Urban Circulator that would connect communities historically impacted by redlining and freeway construction to education, employment, and Downtown.
Known as Transit Oriented Development, or TOD, this planning exercise will thoughtfully focus future development to create livable, walkable communities where right-sized transit is convenient and easy to access.
Please explore this website to learn more about this effort, and how your ideas and opinions can shape the City’s work.
The goal of this plan is to strategically and intentionally develop the Corridor to:
-
Enhance Mobility
-
Improve Pedestrian Access
-
Support Affordable Housing
-
Encourage Equitable Development
-
Promote Economic Growth
-
Enhance Workforce Opportunities
-
Foster a Vibrant Community
